Interviews are normally held as part of the OxICFM CDT admissions process.
Shortlisting will be carried out based on past track-record of academic achievement and commitment to the OxICFM CDT training programme. A 3:1 ratio of shortlisted candidates to places is targeted.
Shortlisted candidates will be given the opportunity to attend an interview in Oxford. If shortlisted, you will be given one 45-minute technical panel interview with at least two academics based on your research interests, together with 25-minute interviews with potential supervisors from your selected projects. In the panel interview you will be asked to give a brief presentation and asked questions about a research project that you have carried out, followed by technical questions on concepts and applications in inorganic synthesis. The project interviews will involve questions from prospective project supervisors. Candidates will be expected to select (in advance) a 1-2-3 choice of potential projects/supervisors from the list provided for that year by OxICFM.
You are strongly encouraged to attend in person, but those unable to travel to Oxford for interview may be assessed by video link/Skype.
We welcome applications from overseas (non-EU) students but unfortunately we cannot offer funded places; however, there are a number of funding opportunities that you can apply for separately. It is highly recommended that you apply for these as early as possible or even before submitting your application to the programme. In addition, there are a number of highly competitive University scholarships available. If you would like to be considered for one of these please click on the link below.
