OxICFM CDT Admissions – FAQs

The taught component of the programme enhanced my presentation and writing skills, and ability to critically read literature - this has been a real benefit when starting my research project. I also have a broader appreciation of the chemistry conducted both in the university and in industry.

Funding eligibility

Subject to normal EPSRC rules, UK students and Irish nationals living in the UK or Republic of Ireland are eligible for fully-funded studentships, including a stipend (currently £17,668 p.a.) and course fees throughout their 4-year course.

As a result of the UK’s decision to leave the EU, most students from the EU who start a programme of study from 2021/22 onwards will pay fees at the ‘Overseas’ rate. Students from the EU, EEA and Switzerland who have been granted settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme may be eligible to pay fees at the Home rate if they meet the residence requirements. More information on the implications of Brexit for the University as a whole can be found here.

We welcome applications from overseas students (this now includes EU nationals). UKRI permit up to 30% of funded places to be allocated to overseas students. The CDT is able to offer full funding for these students within the limits set by UKRI. Additionally, there are a number of funding opportunities that you can apply for separately, and it is highly recommended that you apply for these as early as possible or even before submitting your application to the programme. Moreover, there is a limited number of highly competitive University scholarships available. If you would like to be considered for one of these please click on the link below.
