We seek applications from outstanding post-graduate candidates with an interest in inorganic synthesis across the breadth of molecular, nano-scale and extended materials chemistry. Twelve fully-funded four-year studentships are available each year, for applicants with related science degrees and/or relevant synthetic experience. Further details of the application procedure can be found below.

Applications from female and other under-represented group candidates are encouraged. The University has recently launched a number of pioneering initiatives to improve access to graduate study, including scholarships for black students or fee waivers for applicants from low income backgrounds. You can learn all about these initiatives here.

We are now recruiting students to a new CDT programme – Inorganic Materials for Advanced Manufacturing (IMAT CDT).

The IMAT CDT aims to admit 65 students over a 5-year period, jointly hosted by the Departments of Chemistry and Materials. The focus of this CDT is to train scientists for future challenges in the rapidly developing chemical/materials manufacturing sector. If funded, IMAT will deliver a world-class training programme co-designed and co-delivered with ca. 20 end-user partners, focused on the design, synthesis and characterisation of new inorganic materials. This new CDT will exploit successful features of the existing OxICFM CDT, but also incorporate greatly enhanced industrial partner involvement in the training programme – including a two-month internship in Year 1.
